Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Minimum of three (3) years of commercial cleaning experience and at least one (1) year of supervisory experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively using the English language when deemed necessary.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as labels, instructions, regulations or manuals.
• Ability to complete various forms, logs, requisition forms, maintain records and perform simple mathematics.
• Good work record including attendance and job ratings.
• Working knowledge and training in general custodial duties including all aspects of cleaning and operation of custodial equipment.
• Ability to handle and use grounds and lawn care equipment.
• Ability to supervise other custodial personnel.
• Ability to lift/push/pull a minimum of 50 pounds; ability to climb ladders and work at various heights.
• Ability to work outside in hot or cold weather.
• Ability to frequently walk, stand, kneel, bend, stoop, reach, grasp, and/or twist, etc.
• Working knowledge in carpentry, electricity, heating/ventilating, plumbing.
Responsibilities
• Serve as site-based manager for the facilities department.
• Assist in the orientation and training of new custodians as well as substitutes.
• Assist in developing a work schedule for each person supervised.
• Maintain accurate time and record sheets on each employee supervised.
• Evaluate task performance of each employee supervised, three times annually.
• Assume responsibility for snow and ice removal from walkways and steps.
• Maintain an inventory of and requisition all supplies and equipment required for maintenance and operations of building and grounds.
• Assume responsibility for proper operation of all physical plant systems and equipment including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
• Perform assigned preventative maintenance tasks.
• Assume responsibility for security of building checks on weekends and days when schools are closed.
