Cafeteria Monitor Purpose Statement The job of Cafeteria Monitor is done for the purpose/s of performing non-classroom supervision duties, in the cafeteria. This job reports to School Principal. Part-Time 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Essential Functions · Follow outlined behavior support plan and reports recurring behavioral problems and/or safety hazards to teachers or other designated school staff for maintaining a safe school environment. · Monitor students during meal periods for maintaining acceptable behavioral standards at meals. · Promote standards of courtesy and behavior expected of students (e.g. at mealtimes for maintaining a school environment c onducive to social and academic learning. · Provide supervision and direction to students during meals for ensuring a safe mealtime. · Respond to emergency situations (e.g. injured students, student disputes, etc.) for resolving immediate safety concerns and directing to appropriate personnel for resolution. · Respond to inquiries from a variety of sources for resolving issues, providing information and/or direction to other sources. · Direct movement of students entering and exiting the cafeteria. · Monitor execution of student duties – table washing and picking up trash. · Create seating chart of students for daily attendance and emergencies. Other Functions · Performs other related duties as assigned for ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include adhering to safety practices. KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: Standards of courtesy and behavior expected of students; age appropriate activities; cultural competency while working collaboratively with diverse groups and individuals; safety practices and procedures; and stages of child development is desirable. ABILITY is required to schedule activities; collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with others; work with specific, job-related data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. Problem solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include communicating with persons of diverse backgrounds; adapting to changing work priorities; and, maintaining confidentiality. Responsibility Responsibilities include working under direct supervision using standardized procedures; providing information and/or advising others. Work Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 0% sitting, 10% walking, and 90% standing. The job is performed in a generally hazard free environment. Experience: Job related experience is desired.
