About this role

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: $16.21/hour, $615/month towards single insurance EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with district policy. QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous experience working with children preferred but not required • Initiative to be a self-starter • Intuitive to the needs of the student • Ability to work well with classroom teacher, support staff, administrators, AEA, and parents of student as part of an educational team • Ability to be flexible in assignment given • Ability to use good judgment when unexpected problems arise • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Building principal

JOB GOALS: Assist teachers in the instruction and work/community settings in order to enhance student learning, promote the overall efficiency of the school system, and maximize the educational opportunities available to each child. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Any or all of the following duties may apply to a specific paraeducator position, depending on the needs of the student and the operation of the educational setting.

• Attend work on a prompt and regular basis. • Maintain confidentiality. • Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees. • Assist classroom teachers with educational activities. • Take directions from teachers and building administrators. • Follow behavior management plans for individual students. • Maintain students' daily behavior logs. • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of students' Individual Education Plans. • Assist with preparing and organizing instructional materials and equipment. • Perform personal care duties for students with disabilities as needed. • Prepare and supervise students in bus loading/unloading. • Assist in maintaining a safe and orderly instructional environment. • Assist in implementing school-wide and classroom consistent behavior management strategies/procedures. • Supervise lunchroom, playground, halls, classroom, and other assigned areas. • Clarify and reinforce teacher directions. • Assist with instruction in the community setting as required. • Assist students with assignments, accommodations, and needs. • Reinforce skills taught by the teacher. • Chart/graph student performance. • Organize daily student work folders. • Address and provide physical and health supports (feeding and toileting). • Under teacher direction, implement specific strategies to maintain/increase appropriate behavior. • Supervise students in community/work settings. • Lift, carry, and correctly position students with physical disabilities. • Perform other activities as required by building Principal or teachers. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary to be set at offer of employment, and calendar year to be evaluated in accordance with the Washington School District school year calendar. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the District's policy on Evaluation and State Statute. FLSA Status: Non-exempt
