We are excited to offer Senior Clinical Fellow posts in Emergency Medicine to join our friendly, dynamic and enthusiastic team at Royal Derby Hospital.
These 12-month fixed-term fellowships have been specifically designed for doctors who wish to develop their clinical expertise alongside a personalised portfolio of non-clinical interests.
Whether you are a post-CCT doctor, approaching completion of training, or seeking a year of focused professional development, these posts provide an excellent opportunity to enhance your Emergency Medicine career within one of the region's most innovative Emergency Departments.
Main duties of the job
Each post includes approximately 25% protected non-clinical time, allowing you to pursue areas of interest and build valuable skills that complement clinical practice.

For applicants with an interest in Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine, there is an exciting opportunity to undertake a dedicated fellowship in collaboration with LIVES. This unique experience offers exposure to pre-hospital care, emergency response and multidisciplinary working in challenging environments. Candidates applying for the PHEM Fellowship will be required to attend an interview process with LIVES alongside the UHDB selection process.

Job description Job responsibilities
The ED has 24/7 middle grade clinical cover & extended Consultant cover to 8am-2am 7 days per week. Post-holders in this grade will participate in the Tier 4 rota and ideally shift leading out of hours. Duties within the Emergency Department will cover the whole range of clinical responsibility for both those patients seen in the Emergency Department and inpatients on our observation ward.
Clinical duties will include taking a lead role in the management of acutely ill or traumatised patients. The qualities of leadership required as head of an emergency team are stressed, and it is anticipated that these qualities will be developed through the process of supervision of more junior doctors and involvement in their education - both formal and informal.
The post holder will be expected to prioritise and time-manage effectively according to the activity of the department and to utilise appropriately the available senior staff for advice

FRCEM intermediate ATLS/ETC certification ALS certification MBBS/MBChB or equivalent
Desirable
Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training Higher degree APLS or PALS certification
Clinical Experience Essential
A least one year of paid work in the NHS (Clinical attachments/observerships do not count). Working at minimum Tier 3 level Completed at least five years full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis)

Clinical Knowledge and skills Essential
Experience in making clinical decisions & managing risk Up to date clinical knowledge in relevant specialty & evidence of an understanding of its application
