Job summary
The Assistant Psychologist role within the King's Staff Psychology Service provides essential support to the wider team and contributes to multiple streams of work, including overseeing the internal Schwartz Round programme, co-delivering team interventions, developing materials and resources, administering psychological assessments and treating a small caseload of individual therapy clients, all under close supervision of a clinical psychologist.
Main duties of the job
The Assistant Psychologist's duties include:
Triaging new referrals and presenting these at the team meeting. Conducting assessments. Holding a small caseload of treatment cases under close supervision. Co-facilitating team interventions. Overseeing the administrative and logistical functions related to the Schwartz Rounds programme. Conducting audits and service evaluations. Onboarding trainees and MSc students on placement with the service. Entering feedback from sessions and managing these databases.

Job Summary
To assist practitioner psychologists in the delivery of a specialist applied psychology service in Occupational Health.
To provide clinical work as required by the service, under the clinical and professional supervision of a practitioner psychologist.
To assist in clinical and service-related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching, group work, and project work.
To ensure that systems are in place for the effective administration and management of the patient referral process. This will include providing key support for the collation and screening of new referrals, requesting additional referral information if required, presenting referrals in the team meeting, providing necessary telephone triage, and managing outcomes.
To attend and contribute to weekly service level meetings, and multi-disciplinary team meetings.
To work at appropriate levels of independence, following clinical guidelines and the policies and procedures of the service, and seeking help from clinical/professional supervisor or manager as required.

Qualifications Essential
Holds BPS accredited undergraduate degree
Experience Essential
Sufficient and relevant post-grad experience of working in a MH setting Experience of addressing issues of culture and diversity Post-graduate experience of conducting research projects, service evaluations or audits.
Desirable
Experience within an Occupational Health/Staff Support setting MDT experience
Skills Essential
Skills in relevant psychological assessment and interventions that enable working independently as a pre-qualified practitioner with clinical supervision. Well-developed verbal and written communication skills including communicating complex, sensitive or contentious information to clients, families and colleagues, some of whom my have impediments to understanding. Skills in providing teaching and training to other professional groups Well-developed IT skills including entry and analysis of research data using Microsoft applications, particularly Excel, Teams, Powerpoint, Forms and Word. Ability to work effectively as part of a team, contributing to effective team functioning and holding team roles. Ability to identify and follow relevant clinical governance procedures.
Desirable
Consultation skills to work with the multi-professional team or other professional groups within own service. Ability to manage emotionally stressful situations such as working with victims of abuse, trauma and loss, including detailed descriptions of patient deaths from the staff we support and verbal aggression and hostility directed at self.
