QualificationsYour resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: Experience directing firefighting operations; implementing and executing installation Fire and Emergency Services Programs which includes fire prevention, public education, fire protection, fire suppression, and hazardous materials programs; and providing supervision to senior fire prevention and protection employees. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Conditions of Employment Continued: You must possess and provide the required DoD Certifications at the time of application to be considered for the position (Fire Officer IV, Fire Inspector II, Fire Instructor II, HazMat Incident Command, and Airport Firefighter). You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license, host nation license and successful completion of an Emergency Vehicle Operators Course. This position requires participation in a physical fitness program and requires an Annual Physical. You will be required to work a 60-hour work week with eating and sleeping facilities provided in accordance with general firefighting practices. This position requires a work schedule of four 9-hour days and one 24-hour day shift per week. You must be able to perform fire ground management duties under stress when carrying out the scope of this position. This position requires alertness, self-control, and emotional stability in order to lead and direct personnel under conditions of extreme stress.
Major DutiesYou will serve as the Regional Deputy Fire Chief for the Commander Navy Region Japan (CNRJ) Fire and Emergency Services (F and ES).You will assist, advise, and provide recommendations concerning fire protection matters to all levels of command within the areas where fire protection services are providedYou will develop long range plans for facilities, manpower and material resources, training programs, fire prevention and suppression techniques.You will be responsible for the investigation of all fire incidents that occur regionally to determine fire cause and fire origin.You will implement policy and guidelines for the Occupational Safety and Health programs.You will execute and monitors compliances on personnel management, labor relations, and adhering to EEO policies and procedures.You will maintain liaison and and firm working knowledge of agreements with the Host Nation Fire Departments.
