Job SummaryThis Full-Time position is located at the Rock Island Arsenal Child Development Center (6wks-5yrs). Eligible applicants who apply by 11 August may be sent first for consideration. QualificationsResumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should not include photos. To be found eligible, resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities as they pertain to the qualifications listed below. A qualified candidate must possess the following: Education: Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in child development, early childhood education, elementary or secondary education, home economics (early childhood emphasis), elementary education, special education, or other fields appropriate to the position. - For positions in Child Development Facilities: The education must have been in child development, early childhood education, home economics (early childhood emphasis), elementary education, special education or other fields appropriate to the position to be filled such as directly related behavioral science. OR A combination of education and experience. Education: 24 semester hours in the majors stated above or a related field (see above), plus appropriate experience. Experience: Candidate must also possess all of the following: 1. Six months experience supervising or leading caregivers within child/youth facility-based programs. 2.Experience managing in a classroom setting within child and youth programs. 3.Experience implementing and overseeing a structured child and youth program curriculum. 4.Demonstrated verbal communication skills gained through conducting training, delivering presentations, conducting meetings with parents and/or staff, or similar.

Major DutiesSupervises an assigned team consisting of up to twelve ratios children/youth comprised of direct care professionals and volunteers. Serves as a first-level supervisor for assigned staff.Conducts and review program evaluations of classroom and activity areas, identifying areas that need improvement, and establishing and implementing corrective action plans to address deficiencies within the prescribed timeframes.May serve as the Manager on Duty assuming responsibilities and duties of the program Director or Assistant Director in their absence when assigned.Works in conjunction with the Training Specialist and conducts written observations of assigned direct care professionals during all hours of operation and evaluates employees on established performance standards.Resolves complaints related to personnel concerns; gives advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters; promotes and models safety, fitness, health, and nutrition practices.
