This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION:1) Operating and navigating a small craft through traffic; 2) Maintaining the craft using prescribed maintenance plan; 3) Performing routine maintenance around the craft; 4) Providing assistance to the Ship's Pilots. Dock master, and pier master in the moving docking, and undocking of waterborne craft and ships. Major DutiesYou will instruct a crew in the operation of safety equipment on board vessels (e.g., life rafts, fire extinguishers or systems, life buoys and lights, fire pumps, radio-telephone for emergency distress calls).You will select the best course of navigation to provide dependable, consistent, and safe ship operations.You will use navigational aids and devices to operate a tugboat.
