Job SummaryYou will serve as a SAFETY ENGINEER in the INFRASTRUCTURE DIVISION, SAFETY BRANCH of NSWC PHILA DIV.
QualificationsYour resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Major DutiesYou will serve as a safety engineering expert to evaluate and resolve complex operational hazards.You will solve novel safety engineering problems, modify existing techniques, and design new approaches.You will apply mechanical, structural, and industrial engineering principles on various hull and deck machinery and shipboard systems.You will interpret policies, adapt safety guidelines, and establish new technical criteria where gaps exist.You will review proposed designs for adequacy of safety-related controls for all existing and/or planned facilities, test sites, shipboard systems, and equipment.You will apply safety measures to resolve hazardous conditions, unsafe work practices, and violations of standards to minimize the degree of risk to personnel and property.
