Rangi Ruru Girls’ School is a high achieving and innovative school for young women. It caters for day and boarding students from Year 7 to Year 13.

About the Role

Monday to Friday, 6.00am – 2.30pm | 40 hours per week | Term Time Only Are you a passionate chef who loves feeding a hungry, appreciative crowd and making food the highlight of someone’s day? This is a fantastic opportunity to bring your culinary skills to a vibrant boarding and school community where nutritious, delicious food plays an important role in student wellbeing and success.

As our Chef, you'll be at the heart of daily life for our boarders cooking delicious, nutritious hot lunches that fuel busy students through their school day and providing for the school canteen. You'll have the chance to get creative and cater to a wide range of tastes and dietary needs and take real pride in seeing empty plates and happy faces.

This role is about more than preparing food, it's about building relationships with students and staff, being a familiar and friendly face in their day, and helping create a warm, well-run environment where good nutrition and great company go hand in hand. You'll work within a supportive team.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious, appealing hot lunches for boarding students and canteen customers.

• Plan and create menus that cater for a variety of dietary requirements and preferences.

• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen presentation.

• Manage stock control, ordering, and inventory records.

• Complete and maintain food safety documentation, temperature logs, and dietary records accurately.

We’re looking for someone who is

• A qualified and experienced chef with a passion for quality food.

• Organised and efficient, with strong kitchen and time-management skills.

• Knowledgeable about food safety regulations and best practice.

• Friendly, approachable, and enjoys working within a school community.

• Adaptable and creative, with the ability to cater for a range of tastes and dietary needs.
