What will you do?

The Island Private School of Limassol is not just expanding—we are redefining international education in the Mediterranean. We are seeking an elite, bilingual Boarding Counsellor to champion the psychological well-being, growth, and pastoral care of our international boarding community.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

This is a highly strategic, clinical, and pastoral role. You will bridge the gap between academic life and residential stability, reporting directly to the Head of Boarding.

• Elevate Well-Being: Complete weekly RAG wellness reports and design Individual Learning Plans with our Psychologist Team.

• Clinical Interventions: Provide evidence-based therapeutic support for students experiencing anxiety, trauma, and adjustment issues.

• The Independent Listener:Serve as the trusted, confidential, and safe haven for both staff and students, upholding elite safeguarding standards.

• Uphold Legal Standards: Formally practice psychological acts strictly within the authorized scope of your SEPS License.

• Empower the Community: Design, spearhead, and run peer-mentoring initiatives, psychoeducational workshops, and bite size speed-training sessions for staff.

Mandatory Qualifications & Legal Compliance

Applicants who do not meet these statutory criteria will be automatically disqualified by HR prior to interview.

Academic Credentials (SEPS & KYSATS Statutory Standard)

• Foundational Degree: A standalone, sequential 3-to-4-year undergraduate Bachelor’s degree completely in Psychology.

• Postgraduate Degree: A formal Master’s degree (MSc/MA) or PhD in Clinical, Counselling, or School Psychology.

• Exclusion Criterion: Short-course "adult retraining certificates" (e.g., Профессиональная переподготовка) are legally unrecognizable.

• Academic Recognition: Possession of an official KYSATS Equivalence Certificate for all university qualifications obtained outside Cyprus.

Professional Licensure & Supervised Experience

• Local Registry: Active registration in the Cyprus Sub-Registry of Licensed Specialist Psychologists.

• EU Fast-Track: European applicants must hold an active home-country license; a EuroPsy Certificate is highly preferred.

• Third-Country Applicants: Candidates from non-EU countries (e.g., Russia, Kazakhstan, UK) must provide a verifiable portfolio of 1,000 to 1,500 clock hours of clinical supervision signed off by a certified institutional supervisor.

• Work Scope Flexibility: Candidates meeting academic requirements but lacking immediate SEPS licensure may be considered strictly for the title and duties of a "Boarding Counsellor" under the clinical oversight of our licensed team, pending their registry outcomes.

Linguistic & Visa Compliance

• Language Mastery: Native or near-native fluency in Russian and English. Non-native English speakers from Third Countries must provide an Academic IELTS score of 7.0+ for Ministry of Education validation.

• Immigration Sponsorship: For non-EU nationals, visa sponsorship is strictly contingent upon satisfying the Ministry of Labour's criteria, which requires a pre-verified path to local professional registration.

Safeguarding & Child Protection Certification

• Criminal Clearance: Provision of an original Clean Criminal Record Certificate issued within the past 3 months.

• Minor Safety Registry: Mandatory official certificate proving non-inclusion in the Special Registry of Persons Convicted for Sexual Offenses Against Minors.

We maintain an uncompromising standard of excellence for our boarding house ecosystem:

• The Academic Foundation: Higher education (Master’s Degree or higher) in Counselling, Clinical Psychology, or a highly related mental health field.

• The Track Record: 5+ years of verified, post-qualification counselling experience (prior residential or boarding school experience heavily preferred).

• The Linguistic Edge: Absolute native or near-native fluency in both English and Russian (written and spoken) to seamlessly navigate our student and stakeholder demographics.

• The Core Traits: High emotional intelligence, flawless professional integrity, adaptability to fast-paced environments, and a genuine passion for youth advocacy.

Working Conditions

This role embraces an unconventional, high-impact schedule tailored to when boarders need you most (40 hours/week):

• Sunday: 14:00 – 23:00

• Wednesday to Saturday: 18:00 – 23:00

• Days Off: Monday & Tuesday

• Includes on-call/on-campus duties during working days + 7 hours of aligned stakeholder meetings with boarding staff, Psychologists, and stakeholders across the wider school.

• Attendance is required at all Boarding & Pastoral training days and student induction days. There is a requirement to be onsite a day prior to boarders' return and on departure days, and to be available within the boarding houses

• We also offer an Alternative Schedule: A part-time schedule is available if you are a local resident (20 hours/week) is available Monday to Friday from 18:00 – 22:00,when the students will be on site (4 hours x 5 days)with Sat/Sun as days off
