The opportunity
At Hitachi Energy, we are looking for a Mechanical Design Team Leader to join our Transformers Business in Vaasa, Finland. In this role, you will support and coordinate a small team of skilled design engineers while contributing your own expertise to challenging customer projects. This is not a traditional people management role but an opportunity to coordinate and support a small team of engineers, foster collaboration, and drive successful project delivery.
In this role, you will lead a team of mechanical design engineers working with some of the industry's most advanced transformer and reactor solutions. You will combine hands-on engineering expertise with people leadership, guiding your team through demanding customer projects while ensuring high-quality, innovative, and sustainable designs.
As part of our global engineering organization, you will collaborate closely with colleagues across functions and regions, playing a key role in delivering world-class transformer solutions that support the ongoing energy transition.

B.Sc. or M.Sc. in electrical or mechanical engineeringPrevious experience in mechanical engineering, preferably within industrial product design or manufacturingExperience in team leadership, coaching, or coordinating engineering activities is considered an advantageKnowledge of 3D CAD tools and mechanical design processesExperience with project planning tools such as MS Project or MS Planner is beneficialUnderstanding of manufacturing processes and engineering documentation is considered a plusStrong communication skills in Finnish and English, both written and spoken More about us
