Job Purpose

GM - Direct Procurement- Electrical:

is responsible for developing and executing sourcing and procurement strategies for direct materials required for manufacturing and business operations. The role focuses on cost optimization, supplier relationship management, risk mitigation, quality assurance, and ensuring uninterrupted supply while supporting business growth objectives. Key Responsibilities Strategic Procurement Develop and implement procurement strategies for direct materials aligned with organizational goals.Lead annual sourcing plans, category management, and supplier consolidation initiatives.Drive long-term cost reduction and value engineering programs.Support new product development through supplier involvement and sourcing expertise.Supplier Management Identify, evaluate, and onboard strategic suppliers.Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure performance excellence.Conduct supplier audits, assessments, and business reviews.Negotiate contracts, pricing agreements, payment terms, and service-level agreements.Cost & Value Optimization Drive procurement savings through strategic sourcing, negotiations, and process improvements.Monitor commodity price trends and market intelligence.Implement should-cost analysis and total cost of ownership (TCO) methodologies.Lead productivity and cost optimization initiatives across procurement categories.Supply Continuity & Risk Management Ensure uninterrupted availability of direct materials.Develop supplier risk mitigation and business continuity plans.Monitor supplier financial health, capacity, and compliance risks.Manage supply disruptions and escalation processes.Stakeholder Collaboration Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Planning, Finance, and R&D teams.Align procurement strategies with production and business requirements.Support business expansion, localization, and sustainability initiatives.Team Leadership Lead, mentor, and develop procurement managers and buyers.Establish procurement KPIs and performance management systems.Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.Governance & Compliance Ensure compliance with procurement policies, ethical sourcing standards, and regulatory requirements.Maintain contract governance and procurement documentation.Drive ESG and sustainability initiatives within the supply base.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Cost savings and cost avoidanceSupplier on-time delivery performanceMaterial availability/service levelsSupplier quality performance (PPM, defects)Contract complianceProcurement cycle timeSupplier risk and sustainability metricsWorking capital and inventory optimizationQualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.MBA or Master's degree preferred.Professional certifications such as CPSM, CIPS, CSCP, or APICS preferred.Experience 12-15 years of procurement/sourcing experience.Minimum 5-8 years in a leadership position managing direct procurement.Strong experience in strategic sourcing, category management, supplier development, and contract negotiations.Experience in manufacturing, automotive, industrial, FMCG, electronics, pharma, or related sectors preferred.Key Competencies Strategic Sourcing & Category ManagementCommercial NegotiationSupplier Relationship ManagementCost Analysis & Value EngineeringSupply Chain Risk ManagementLeadership & Team DevelopmentData Analytics & Procurement Systems (SAP, Oracle, Ariba, Coupa, etc.)Stakeholder ManagementBusiness AcumenProblem Solving & Decision MakingLeadership Expectations Drive procurement transformation and operational excellence.Build strategic supplier partnerships.Deliver sustainable cost competitiveness.Champion ethical sourcing and governance.Lead high-performing procurement teams.
