About this role
School-based occupational therapists (OT) are part of a team of related service providers who support a student's ability to access and participate in his/her educational environment. They provide/recommend adapted equipment/devices/strategies and environmental modifications when needed as well as therapeutic interventions to promote functional skills in order for the child to fulfill their role as students. The OT is responsible for the service delivery process including evaluations, interventions planning and implementation, IEP updates, dismissals etc. as well as supervising Certified Occupational Therapy Assistance (COTA) when indicated. In addition to providing direct occupational therapy, a therapist may provide consultation to a child's educational team (for example, teachers, aides, other therapists, and parents). Educational Requirement: OTR/L - Occupational Therapist Registered/Licensed, Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy, MOT- Masters in Occupational Therapy, MSOT- Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy, OTD - Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from an accredited school. Licensure Requirement: Licensure from the Virginia Department of Health Professions Board of Occupational Therapist required
