STATUS: School Term Position - 200 hours annual max.

POSITION SUMMARY: Assists with duties assigned by the classroom teacher to enhance the learning of all students. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Play the piano as an accompanist for rehearsals and performances
• Accept direction from classroom teacher
• Assist at times with additional responsibilities and assignments as needed by the teacher or principal
• Assist the teacher in specific routine activities such as drills, reinforcement, developing verbal and listening communication skills, and performance-building exercises
• Assist with field trips
• Chaperone and supervise students during classes and concerts, including possible travel
• Help collect resources for use in the classroom
• Lead sectional rehearsals
• Provide specific instruction on instrument(s) of expertise
• Under direction of the classroom teacher, learns techniques for implementing music program
• Work directly with teachers to carry out specific tasks related to student's needs
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Ability to interact effectively with staff and parents
• Ability to move within building and classrooms
• Ability to relate and communicate to students regardless of their needs
• Ability to safely supervise children in all areas of the building, inside and outside
• Ability to understand limited role of music assistant with respect to teacher responsibilities
• Proficient with computer using MS Office and Google programs, printer, fax, and phone
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
• Minimum of sixty (60) semester hours from an accredited college or university
• Advanced skills on the piano
• Teacher certification preferred
• Friendly, helpful attitude in working with students and staff

• Piano or other musical instrument(s)
• Standard office equipment
