Requirements: We need proven hands-on experience implementing Microsoft Purview in enterprise environments.We need strong experience with data lineage, data catalogue management, data classification, sensitivity labelling (MIP), and data governance frameworks.We need experience implementing or enabling RBAC and access governance controls.We need strong knowledge of the Microsoft data ecosystem, including Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold), Azure Data Factory, and Power BI.We need the ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-moving environment.We need excellent stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills.Experience within regulated or highly data-sensitive environments is desirable.Knowledge of UK GDPR and data protection principles is desirable.Exposure to data mesh or federated data governance models is desirable.Familiarity with data quality frameworks and metadata-driven governance is desirable.Microsoft certifications such as DP-700, SC-400, or SC-300 are desirable.Experience supporting cloud migration or governance implementation across newly established Azure data platforms is desirable. Responsibilities: We configure and manage Microsoft Purview scanning and lineage capabilities across key source systems.We establish end-to-end lineage across Microsoft Fabrics Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers and reporting environments.We identify lineage gaps and implement repeatable governance processes and standards.We support the development and maintenance of the enterprise data catalogue and business glossary.We define and apply data classifications and Microsoft Information Protection (MIP) sensitivity labels.We configure automated classification rules and custom classifiers.We develop and maintain metadata standards, taxonomies, and governance frameworks.We improve data visibility and protection through effective tagging and governance controls.We partner with Information Security teams to implement role-based access control (RBAC) models.We align data sensitivity classifications with access entitlements and least-privilege principles.We support access governance reviews and contribute to governance evidence and documentation.We help translate governance and security policies into practical technical controls.We produce governance reporting covering lineage, catalogue coverage, classifications, and access exceptions.We develop governance standards, runbooks, and operating procedures.We support business data stewards and help embed governance capability within the organisation. We are offering a 6-month contract at £500 outside IR35, with 1-2 days on site in Milton Keynes. We are looking for an experienced Purview Data Governance Analyst to help us deliver a modern, governed data platform built on Microsoft Fabric and Azure. This is a delivery-focused role where you will work closely with our data engineering and information security teams to implement practical governance solutions and deliver measurable outcomes. You will have the opportunity to shape governance across a modern Microsoft Fabric data platform, work alongside specialist teams on high-profile data initiatives, and take genuine ownership and autonomy to drive governance outcomes.
