Job summary
This innovative role sees an experienced and passionate general practitioner providing clinical care for the Dermatology service at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust which is delivered from a dedicated Health on the High Street (HOTH) facility located within the Alhambra Shopping Centre in Barnsley town centre..
They will be an excellent team player and communicator, flexible and willing to adapt to support their colleagues.
In this role you will work closely with our Dermatology Team, developing your skills to support patients with access to effective and timely care, with the aim to run independent Dermatology clinics, providing assessments and treatments for patients presenting with a range Dermatological conditions. You will complete minor skin surgery including simple biopsies and excisions. You will also contribute to the Local Skin MDT (LSMDT)
Main duties of the job
Clinical Responsibilities and Key Skills
Responsibility for outpatient clinics which consume of New and Follow up patients, providing experienced medical services, based on patient needs
As a clinician, provide patient focused, evidence-based practice to a high standard
Provide support and advice to the clinical workforce and colleagues within the Trust
Be accountable for operating within the clinical governance framework for the Trust at all times, incorporating service users and carers, audit, guidelines and risk management
Act as an advocate for patients, nurses, colleagues and the Trust
Ensure effective communication
Be committed to innovation and continual improvement
Encourage and support research and development
Promote inter-professional training and education with colleagues.
Act as an advisor and role model for all staff, the Trust and external stakeholders
To take part in clinical meetings and clinical supervision.
To participate in QI, development and learning, as part of the service team
Clinical Governance
Review and respond to relevant Incident Reports and raise any clinical concerns with the Dermatology Clinical Lead
Support the local lead for Infection Prevention and Control
Support the local lead for Safeguarding of Adult and Children
Contribute to clinical audit and quality improvement work

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
MRCGP or equivalent. Full GMC registration and on Specialist Register.
Experience Essential
12 years post qualification experience, 6 years of which must be in either General Practice and Dermatology. Experience in the management of a broad primary care caseload.
Desirable
Experience in a Specialist interest that will complement those of other staff.
Teaching Desirable
Evidence of effective teaching to medical students and doctors in training and to the multidisciplinary team.
Skills and Abilities Essential
Willingness and ability to fulfil the key elements of the job description. Ability to develop effective working relationships on an individual, multi-professional and team basis with all levels of staff. Ability and evidence of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Desirable
Possession of the clinical skills required to perform the job.
