About this role
Job summary We havean opportunityforan experiencedBand 3 HCSW to develop their skillswitha12 monthsecondment starting 13 July 2026 in theTrauma and Orthopaedic Ambulatory Care Unit(TOACU). The unittakes referrals through Orthopaedic on call Registrars from Poole and Bournemouth ED and the Urgent carecentre. This is a part time role (34.5 hours per week). TOACU is open 8am to 8pm Monday to Saturday and the successful candidate would be required to work 2 Saturdays during each 4 week rota. The role of the HCSW is todemonstratecare,compassionand UHD Values. The post holder will support the trained nurse and other healthcare professionals in the delivery of the highest standard of patient centred care. Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Good standard of numeracy and literacy Completion of a recognised Care certificate
Desirable
Short courses to undertake patient and clinical care duties Short course to undertake Enhanced Therapeutic Care
Experience Essential
Ability to adapt and learn in a health care environment Cannulation of patients and venepuncture Previous experience of working within NHS
Desirable
Previous experience of working with patients that require Enhanced Care i.e. challenging behaviour, high falls risk, Dementia and Delirium Experience of working as part of a multi disciplinary team
Technical Skills Competencies Essential
Understanding of basic physiology e.g. normal vital signs, fluid balance, nutritional requirements et Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (to understand and be understood) Ability to follow clear instruction and feed back to senior staff. Ability to work as part of a team, as well as on own initiative IT literate
