Job summary
The Ward Housekeepers will ensure that the hospital ward for which they are assigned is clean, safe and an attractive place for patient care.Working with and in support of the ward manager and the wider clinical teams, you will coordinate non-clinical ward services such as catering, cleaning, equipment, maintenance and supplies, working closely with each of these services.
Main duties of the job
Main duties include:o talking to and reassuring patientso ordering non-clinical supplieso keeping the ward clean and tidyo serving and clearing away mealso preparing snacks and drinkso reporting faultso clerical and admin taskso ordering patient transporto receiving visitors
The ward housekeeper will be expected to provide an efficient, professional and effective service to their allocated ward ensuring excellent customer service at all times.

Qualifications Essential
Educated to GCSE/Level 2 in Maths and English Level 2 Food hygiene qualification or willing to undertake
Desirable
NVQ level 2 in Cleaning services
Knowledge and Experience Essential
Knowledge of cleaning technique Knowledge of food hygiene regulations Experience of delivering cleaning and or food services within a hospital or hotel environment Experience in working in a customer services environment

Knowledge of COSHH principles Experience of dealing with complaints face to face

IT and keyboard Skills Ability to utilise cleaning equipment, manipulating trolleys, clean clinical equipment ensuring reduction in infections There is a frequent requirement for lifting, pushing and pulling for substantial proportion of the working day when cleaning, stock control and bed making Concentration is required to ensure equipment is sufficiently clean or meals are ordered correctly where the work pattern is predictable Frequent exposure to emotional and distressing circumstances whilst dealing with patient who are either mentally or physically incapacitated Frequent exposure to dealing with bodily fluids as part of the role of cleaning the ward environment
