About this role

Job summary

PART TIME Dental Therapy Tutor 0.6 WTEAgenda for Change Band 7Preferred days - Monday - Wednesday (1 year Maternity Cover)Applications are invited for a highly motivated, dynamic and flexible Dental Therapist who is interested in educating the future workforce.

You will work alongside experienced clinical and academic staff to develop knowledge, skills and behaviours - ensuring professional and confidential graduates. As a team we actively encourage innovation in our education and assessment.

You will need to hold current GDC registration as a dental therapist with at least 3 years current experience working within primary or secondary care, experience within NHS is preferrable. Educational experience is desirable but not essential, the role is ideal for someone who would like to expand their role through teaching and influencing the education of the next generation of dental professionals.

The post is based at the Royal National ENT & Eastman Dental Hospitals, part of University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Successful applicants will join an established Dental Education Team committed to high quality research-based academic and clinical teaching.

Main duties of the job

To support the delivery, supervision, and continuous development of high-quality academic and clinical training for Dental Hygiene and Therapy students, contributing to the strategic goals and educational excellence of the Eastman Dental Hospital Education Centre.

o Deliver education, training and assessment of the undergraduate students within the EDHEC Dental Hygiene and Therapy programme.o Provide clinical supervision and support for undergraduate students within the EDHEC Dental Hygiene and Therapy.o Contribute to the design, delivery and quality assurance of the education and training programmes.o Support the development and implementation of EDHEC strategies in collaboration with the Programme Director / Deputy to meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders.o Undertake administrative, managerial, and other responsibilities as agreed with Programme Director / Deputy

Person Specification

Knowledge and Qualifications Essential

Diploma or BSc in Dental Hygiene or Dental Therapy Full registration with the General Dental Council

Desirable

Post Graduate Certification in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education or equivalent Higher degree (MSc, PhD or equivalent) Knowledge of the clinical and educational expectations for training dental hygienists & dental therapists

Experience Essential

Evidence of clinical experience in general dental practice: oWorking to full scope of practice oDemonstrating depth of understanding of the role Ability to work effectively within a team

Desirable

Experience of delivering education and training to dental professionals

Skills and Abilities Essential

Advanced IT skills (including MS Office Suite)

Desirable

Able to demonstrate knowledge of quality assurance in education Knowledge of the principals of clinical governance, audit and research. Ability to draw on a range of methods and techniques to effectively engage participants in the process of learning Experience supervising trainees within the clinical environment Experience of student assessments / examinations
