Job summary
This is one of several posts to promote the delivery of the well-established acute and general medicine service and enhance our patient outcomes. The post can be based at either of our main sites and we have established patterns of cross site working.
The post will suit enthusiastic doctors looking to develop and use their skills in medicine and gain expertise in a subspecialty. The post-holder will be part of a EWTD and New Deal compliant 24/7 shift rota in medicine. They will be responsible for the continued delivery and further development of an already well established service for patients living within the catchment area of the Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and surrounding areas and will be working under consultant supervision.
Main duties of the job
Key Duties Of The Post-
Managing a whole spectrum of emergency patients.
Assistance and supervision of the F1, F2 and GP resident doctors with the management of patients.
Strengthening the delivery of a high quality General and Emergency Medicine service across the hospital and community.
Developing further links between Emergency medicine and Medicine
Developing innovative practices in clinical patient management, focusing on high quality care.
Developing a subspecialty interest.
Teaching and training undergraduates as well as postgraduates
Quality assurance of the service and individual practice
The rota pattern is a full shift with appropriate remuneration. All rotas comply with the New Deal and EWTD. All rotas comply with the 2016 Training Doctor contract and EWTD.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
MBchB/MBBS or equivalent Completion of Core Training or equivalent within the specialty MRCP Part I / MRCP Part II (written) Full GMC registration with licence to practice
Experience and Achievements Essential
Must be able to demonstrate clinical experience and competence in GIM expected of a doctor at ST3-5 level An interest in Acute Medicine and Respiratory that is demonstrated by evidence Ability to offer expert clinical opinions on a range of problems within the Speciality and to support the junior medical colleagues and nursing team. Competence in procedural skills relevant to the level of the post
Desirable
Ability and willingness to learn from colleagues, senior and other sources.
Teaching and Training Desirable
Experience of and enthusiasm for clinical teaching of medical students, junior colleagues and other healthcare professionals
Audit and Research Desirable
Knowledge of Audit principles and evidence of participation in and completion of audit projects
