We are currently seeking an experienced Fitter to join the luxury cruise vessel Orient Express Olympian . Department: | Engine Job Title: | Fitter Reporting to: | Staff Engineer Qualification: | As per applicable requirements of: • IMO STCW Convention (as amended) • Company certification and training requirements per form C601d Experience: | As per Company Recruitment & Promotion Experience Requirements per form C601d Description and Main Purpose of Job: The Fitter is a skilled mechanical rating responsible for carrying out hot work, fabrication, machining, and pipefitting tasks. The role supports the Engine Department by performing mechanical repairs and assisting Engineer Officers in the maintenance and overhaul of shipboard machinery and equipment, and performing any additional general technical duties as reasonably required by the Staff Engineer. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Fabrication & Repair: Perform skilled workshop tasks (including welding, gas cutting, turning, and milling) to fabricate, repair, and install steelwork, pipes, and mechanical components as directed by the Staff Engineer or assigned Officers. Machinery & Operational Assistance: Assist Engineer Officers with the dismantling, overhauling, and reassembly of machinery, and participate in operational tasks such as loadings and bunkering.  Workshop & Inventory Management: Maintain high standards of housekeeping in the mechanical workshop, ensure machinery and power tools are in safe working condition, and manage the inventory and replenishment of workshop consumables (welding rods, gases, steel plates, etc.). Safety & Compliance: Strictly adhere to Permit to Work (PTW) procedures – especially for Hot Work and fire-watch protocols – and ensure compliance with work and rest hour requirements. Professionalism: Maintain professional conduct and appearance at all times, particularly when carrying out repairs in passenger or crew accommodation areas Health, Safety and Environment Duties and Responsibilities: All employees have a duty under Company Policies and VMS requirements to: Participate in shipboard emergency duties and drills in accordance with the vessel’s muster list and emergency procedures Take reasonable care for their own health and safety and for that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions Cooperate with management on health and safety matters Use correctly all work items provided by the Company, including personal protective equipment, in accordance with training and instructions Not interfere with or misuse anything provided for health, safety, or welfare · Abide by environmental protection rules and regulations and actively participate in the reduction, reuse, and recycling schemes in place All employees shall participate actively in all HSEQ activities and promote safe practices as part of an integrated management approach.
