Vessel Information Type: Bulk Carrier Gross Tonnage: 41804 Dead Weight: 50011 Built Year: 2023 Flag: SGP Engine Maker: MAN B&W Joining Date: 15 September 2026 The Second Engineer is responsible to the Chief Engineer for: · Preparation of the main propulsion and other Engine Room plant for sea · Effective and efficient day-to-day operations of the main propulsion and other Engine Room plant · Organisation and supervision of the Engine Room watch keepers/UMS duty engineers · Organisation and supervision of the Engine Department Ratings and other department staff · Efficient operation of all emergency equipment. Testing of all emergency equipment including equipment not kept in machinery spaces e.g. Emergency Generator, Emergency Fire Pump, Lifeboat Engines, Fire Flaps, Emergency Stops, and Fuel Tank Valve Trips. · Adopting safe working practices onboard · Taking all necessary steps to ensure protection of the environment · Maintenance of the main propulsion and auxiliary machinery, cargo handling and deck machinery · Maintenance of the machinery spaces, internal steelwork surfaces including general cleanliness · Fully participating in the Shipboard VMS Management meetings · Ensuring complete familiarization with all control piping systems and valves, and electrical systems, so that in emergencies essential services can be restored quickly and safely · Ensuring that a competent Engineer tests the water of all boilers and feed systems daily. In the event of an indication of contamination ensure brought immediately to the attention of Chief Engineer. Ensure that all test readings are recorded in the Engine Log Book and the Treatment Report Forms or Computer software provided · Advising the Chief Engineer of spare gear requirements and maintenance of the stock levels and reporting system · Ensuring that Security measures are implemented within the Engine Room spaces as directed by the Master/ Ship Security Officer · Assisting the Chief Engineer in coaching and training Engine Department junior officers and ratings · Understudying the Chief Engineer whenever a suitable opportunity arises · Undertaking any other tasks, duties as instructed by the Chief Engineer.
