Are you an experienced operational leader with a passion for delivering high-quality, safe and effective clinical services? Are you looking for an opportunity to lead service transformation and make a meaningful difference for children, young people and families in a 12 month Secondment role?

We are seeking an ambitious and motivated Service Manager to join our Children's and Young Peoples Directorate as a Band 8a Service Manager for Community Paediatrics, Dietetics and Neonatal services.

This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced manager to provide both operational and clinical leadership across a designated service portfolio. Working closely with the Head of Service and wider senior leadership team, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, high-quality and financially sustainable services that meet the needs of children, young people and families.

The successful candidate will lead service improvement, workforce development and operational performance, while building strong partnerships across the wider health and care system. This role offers an opportunity to influence strategic direction, drive innovation and support the delivery of outstanding care across integrated services

Main duties of the job

Provide visible operational and clinical leadership across a designated service portfolio Lead the planning, management and delivery of high-quality, safe and effective services Support delivery of key performance indicators, operational objectives and clinical outcomes Lead service improvement, transformation and quality improvement initiatives Manage budgets and resources effectively to ensure financial sustainability and value for money Provide line management and leadership to multidisciplinary clinical teams Support workforce planning, staff development and performance management Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders across the Integrated Care System Lead or support complex incident investigations, complaints and HR processes Use data, performance metrics and service intelligence to inform decision-making and service improvement

Job description Job responsibilities

The Service Manager will be a key member of the management team, responsible for providing leadership, operational oversight and strategic direction across designated service areas.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading the operational delivery of services to ensure high standards of care, quality and safety

Supporting continuous service improvement and transformation across clinical pathways

Working closely with the Head of Service and senior colleagues to deliver Trust objectives

Managing operational performance, governance and risk across service areas

Ensuring compliance with national standards, Trust policies and regulatory requirements

Leading multidisciplinary teams to create a positive, high-performing working culture

Supporting workforce planning to ensure teams have the right skills, capacity and capability

Monitoring and managing service budgets and resources effectively

Supporting implementation of innovative models of care and integrated working

Building collaborative partnerships with local authorities, primary care, acute providers and voluntary sector partners

Using data and performance intelligence to drive improvements in patient outcomes and experience

Supporting investigations relating to incidents, complaints and operational concerns

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Educated to Master's level or able to demonstrate equivalent experience Evidence of leadership training and commitment to ongoing professional development Strong working knowledge of the health and social care system

Knowledge Essential

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and reports Strong understanding of operational performance, governance and risk management

Experience Essential

Significant senior operational management experience within the NHS or equivalent healthcare setting Experience delivering service transformation and improvement Experience managing complex incidents, complaints or service issues
