Main duties of the job
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our specialist neuromodulation service at University Hospital Southampton.
This is a specialist service providing pain management for patients undergoing implantation of spinal cord and occipital nerve stimulators.
This role offers the opportunity to provide expert, evidence-based care and advice for patients with complex and persistent pain while supporting safe practice, education, governance and service improvement across inpatient and outpatient pathways.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop highly specialised skills within a nationally recognised service, working both autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team caring for patients with persistent pain.

The successful candidate will be an experienced registered nurse with strong clinical judgement, excellent communication skills and a commitment to person-centred care.
They will work autonomously and collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, supporting pain assessment, care planning, patient education, staff development, audit and quality improvement.
This post is suited to a nurse who is keen to develop specialist neuromodulation and pain management expertise and contribute to a compassionate and continuously improving Trust Culture.
Please note this post is restricted to registered nurses (NMC registered) to due to essential clinical competencies required of the post-holder including post-operative wound assessment, surgical site management and the delivery of specialist nursing care throughout the neuromodulation pathway.

Person Specification
Qualifications, knowledge and experience Essential
Registered nurse on relevant part of the NMC register Degree qualification or equivalent 120 credits at L6 Post registration qualification within area of speciality or equivalent experience Completion of all Band 5 (preceptorship) competencies Provide evidence of supporting/ managing a range of learners in practice Provide evidence of supporting colleagues to promote effective learning in practice Extensive post registration experience within specialist area. Knowledge of current issues within the acute health service.

Registered on MSc Pathway - completion of HTPA Competencies Act in the role of Practice Assessor or supporting the progression of learners / supporting challenges as needed Counselling qualification Palliative care course IT training
