Main duties of the job
Key responsibilities:
Lead the secretariat function for the NHS Pension Scheme Advisory Board and Technical Advisory Group.Engage with employers, understand their views and represent them in national pension discussions.Develop guidance, resources and webinars to keep employers informed of pension developments.Contribute pension evidence to pay review bodies and responses to consultations.Build strong relationships with stakeholders across employers, trade unions, NHS bodies and government.Work collaboratively across the organisation to support the delivery of our pension programme.This is a varied, high-profile role offering the opportunity to influence pension policy, support scheme governance and help NHS employers maximise the value of the NHS Pension Scheme.

Lead on providing professional and effective secretariat support for the NHS Pension Scheme Advisory Board and the Technical Advisory Group. This includes drafting agendas, coordinating meeting papers, ensuring actions are progressed and completed, and ensuring meeting minutes are clear and accurate.Continually engage with employers to understand their views on pension issues to represent their views and influence on pension policy on their behalf. This includes coordinating the development of responses to consultations and calls for evidence and supporting national discussions around scheme reform and pension policy.Ensure employers are kept up to date on the latest developments. Produce expert technical guidance and provide tools and resources to help employers promote the value of the NHS Pension Scheme.Contribute, in collaboration with others, material to support the preparation of annual evidence to the NHS Pay Review Body (NHS PRB) and the pay review body for doctors and dentists (DDRB).Establish effective working relationships with key stakeholders including trade union representatives, employers, advisers and our commissioners at the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC).Engage with the work of other teams across the directorate and wider organisation to ensure our work is connected and actively participate in our monthly directorate office days.

Desirable
An awareness of broader issues affecting the NHS workforce. Some experience of working with trade unions. Some experience/knowledge of local NHS Pension Scheme administration.
