Specialty Doctor - Haematology

South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust provides acute and maternity services for a population of approximately 300,000 covering an area that includes Warwick, Royal Leamington Spa, Stratford upon Avon, and Kenilworth as well as rural South Warwickshire. We are pleased to invite applications for a Specialty Doctor in haematology to join our dynamic and expanding team at Warwick Hospital.

Our haematology service is well established and forward-thinking, comprising: 6 consultants, 1 specialty doctor, 3 resident doctors and 8 clinical nurse specialists. The team delivers level 2B care, including administration of bispecfic antibody therapy.

This is a 2-year fixed term post, with potential for extension. It is suitable for doctors with a specialist interest in haematology or seeking to gain further experience in haematology. The post is based at Warwick Hospital, and the post-holder will rotate with our present Speciality Doctor across the ward, treatment unit and outpatient clinics; some of which may be held at Stratford Hospital.

Main duties of the job

This post involves daily management of haematology inpatients and referrals from other specialties. The post-holder will also provide cover for the treatment unit to review and manage patients on chemotherapy who are unwell and perform procedures including bone marrows, venesections and removal of Hickman lines. The post holder will also participate in haematology clinics which cover a wide spectrum of haematological malignancies and general disorders. You will have the opportunity to be actively involved in research and attend multi-disciplinary team meetings.

You must be a fully registered medical practitioner with the GMC or be eligible to obtain full GMC registration within 3 months (or within 6 months for non-EEA applicants). You will have a minimum of four years' postgraduate training, with a minimum of 12 months in a relevant specialty.

The haematology team are research active with a broad portfolio of trials open,including commercial trials. There will be an opportunity for involvement in researchand audit and time available for laboratory training depending on the individual needs.
