Job Title: Senior Platform Engineer Location: Bangalore Business & Team: Retail Technology Impact & Contribution: As a Senior Platform Engineer – SAP, you will be a key technical member of the Core Banking Platform Crew within Retail Technology, supporting one of Australia's most critical SAP Core Banking platforms. You will be responsible for the engineering, operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of SAP Basis and SAP HANA platforms, while contributing to cloud transformation, resilience, automation and platform modernisation initiatives. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring strong expertise in SAP Basis, SAP HANA, Linux and AWS, combined with a DevOps mindset focused on platform reliability, operational excellence and continuous improvement. Roles & Responsibilities:
• Support the implementation, upgrade, migration, and ongoing administration of SAP Basis and SAP HANA platforms across Production and Non-Production environments, including upgrades, enhancement packs, support packs, kernel upgrades, add-on installations, SSL certificate management, and system refreshes.
• Perform SAP HANA engineering and database administration activities, including installations, SPS/revision upgrades, HANA System Replication (HSR), high availability/disaster recovery solutions, Scale-Up/Scale-Out environments, and performance optimization.
• Execute SAP platform transformation initiatives, leveraging tools such as SUM, DMO, and ZDO, while ensuring compliance with security, resilience, and End-of-Support requirements.
• Provide L2/L3 operational support for business-critical SAP systems, managing incidents, major incidents, problems, changes, releases, root cause analysis, and recovery activities to maintain service availability and reliability.
• Support and optimize SAP workloads on AWS Cloud, working with technologies such as EC2, EBS, EFS, FSx, Cloud Storage, and BACKINT, while contributing to cloud resilience and optimization initiatives.
• Drive automation, Infrastructure as Code, and platform standardization efforts, utilizing DevOps tools and practices to improve operational efficiency, reduce risk, and enhance service delivery.
• Enhance observability and operational excellence by supporting monitoring, alerting, dashboards, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives across SAP, HANA, and AWS environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, including SAP Functional, ABAP, Security, Infrastructure, Cloud Engineering, Monitoring teams, vendors, and service providers, to support project delivery, technical governance, and knowledge sharing
Essential Skills:
• 8+ years of hands-on SAP Basis and SAP HANA experience in enterprise environments. • Strong experience supporting SAP production environments and critical business workloads. • Good expertise in: • SAP Basis Administration • SAP HANA Administration • SAP Upgrades and Maintenance • High Availability & Disaster Recovery • Scale-Up and Scale-Out HANA Environments • Linux Administration (RHEL & SUSE)
• Experience supporting SAP workloads hosted on AWS. • Exposure to migration and transformation projects. • Good understanding of: • Incident Management • Major Incident Management • Problem Management • Change Management • Operational Support Processes
• Experience working with geographically distributed teams. Education Qualification:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology.
