PURPOSE The Columbia Public School District is seeking an Assistant Coach to help maintain the Boys and Girls Cross Country. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
• Maintain the Cross-Country program.
• Maintaining positive communication with teachers, patrons and parents of athletes and potential athletes.
• Assist with coordinating off-season camps and conditioning programs.
• Encouraging good sportsmanship and enthusiasm for the sport.
• Collaborating with other coaches to ensure a comprehensive approach to athletes.
• Ensuring compliance with MSHAA.
• Maintaining statistics on all players.
• Get along and do tasks assigned by the Head Coach.
• Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Columbia Public School District.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS Reports To: Athletic Director Supervises: Student Athletes QUALIFICATIONS Minimum: 60 hours of college credit is required; Missouri Substitute teaching certificate is required; Sport First Aid Course is required. MSHSAA Coaches Courses. Preferred: Bachelor's degree; Missouri teaching certificate; Prior teaching/coaching experience. Reasoning: Solve a variety of problems in many different situations; Interpret instructions presented in written, oral, diagram or schedule form; Apply knowledge of current educational theory and instructional techniques while presenting subject matter to students Other Skills and Abilities: Identify needs and abilities of individual students and to adapt instructional methods accordingly; establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, administrators, and parents; perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Technology: Perform basic computer functions such as word processing and internet use; Use district software for finding student information; Utilize smart boards, projectors and other instructional technology provided by the district. Physical Demands: Speak and hear in an environment where numerous conversations and activities may be taking place simultaneously; Move around a classroom, gymnasium, and playing field; Read handwritten or printed material Attendance: Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position: Requires frequent evening and/or weekend work related to practice and competition; Evenings and/or weekends travel to accompany students to games and meets. Sensory Requirements: The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking. Conditions and Environment: The individual who holds this position will regularly work in a school environment that is noisy and active. The individual will be required to work outdoors.
