Position Title: Middle School Assistant Volleyball Coach Location: Naco Elementary School District #23, Naco, Arizona Reports To: Superintendent/Principal Position Type: Seasonal Stipend Position Position Summary Naco Elementary School District is seeking a positive, dependable, and enthusiastic individual to serve as the Middle School Assistant Volleyball Coach. The assistant coach will work closely with the head coach to develop student-athletes' volleyball skills while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, and academic success in a safe and supportive environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist the head coach with planning and conducting practices.
• Help instruct student-athletes in the fundamental skills and strategies of volleyball.
• Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and respect.
• Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and team travel.
• Assist with game preparation, equipment setup, and inventory.
• Support the enforcement of district, conference, and school athletic policies.
• Encourage academic achievement and appropriate student behavior.
• Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, school staff, and administration.
• Maintain a safe environment and report injuries or concerns promptly.
• Perform other duties related to the athletic program as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience playing or coaching volleyball is preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with middle school students.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work evenings and occasional weekends during the season.
Required Certifications
• Valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (or ability to obtain one).
• Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before the season begins).
• Completion of all district-required coaching and safety training.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge of volleyball rules and fundamentals.
• Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes.
• Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team culture.
• Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, staff, students, and families.
Working Conditions
• Evening practices and games during the volleyball season.
• Occasional weekend tournaments.
• Outdoor and indoor athletic activities requiring standing, walking, and demonstrating athletic skills.
Compensation Seasonal coaching stipend in accordance with the Naco Elementary School District Governing Board approved stipend schedule.
