GARRETT-KEYSER-BUTLER COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT School District Position Description EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part-Time, 15 - 20 hours per week,183 days annually SUMMARY: Assists the bus driver in ensuring the safety of the children while they ride, board, or exit the vehicle while being transported daily. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitors students while on bus; maintains safety and order on the bus, ensures students wear seatbelts; provides first aid to ill or injured students

• Assists with the loading and unloading of students on/off the bus; provides special assistance to students in wheelchairs, including operating the lift and strapping and securing wheelchairs on vehicles.

• Assist in the implementation of strategies to manage student behavior and monitor students to ensure the safety of other students and staff on the bus.

• Report observations and incidents and communicate them to appropriate district staff.

• Assists bus drivers with routes and directions as needed.

• Provides assistance during emergencies, evacuation planning and drills; provides knowledge and operates emergency window exits.

• Maintains cleanliness of the bus by sweeping and removing trash items from the bus interior.

• Maintains confidentiality.

• Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Excellent people skills.

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Required to have prompt, regular attendance.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
