About this role
The job of the Bus Driver is done for the purpose of transporting students over scheduled routes and/or to/from special excursions; ensuring vehicle is in safe operating condition; and ensuring safety of students during transport, loading and unloading from buses. Responsibilities include:
• Advises students and other passengers of appropriate behavior
• Assesses incidents, complaints, accidents and/or potential emergency situations
• Assists students and other passengers
• Attends meetings, trainings, etc.
• Cleans assigned vehicles, both interior and exterior
• Conducts emergency evacuation drills; drives school bus(es)
• Fuels assigned vehicle, (e.g. oil, water, fuel, etc.)
• Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections, (e.g. fluid levels, tire pressure, exterior condition, etc.)
• Prepares documents and reports, (e.g. field trip reports, incident reports, inspection records, passenger misconduct, mileage logs, student counts, etc.)
• Reports observations and/or incidents, (e.g. discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc.)
• Responds to inquires, (e.g. students, parents, other school personnel, etc.)
• Supervises students and other passengers during transit
• Assists other personnel as may be required
The District trains new bus drivers. Experience is desired. Full time with Benefits - 25-40 hrs. per week. Qualifications:
• Alcohol and Drug Test
• Pre-placement Physical Exam
• Criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance
• Random drug testing
This is a 10-month psoition only.
