We are currently looking to recruit a
6 SESSION SALARIED GP 9 Month Fixed Term Contract (Maternity Cover)
To work at our practice 3 days a week, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday.
Start Date: Tuesday 1st September 2026
We are a friendly practice based on the outskirts of Sheffield. Whilst being situated in a beautiful quiet valley, we are still only 9 miles from Sheffield city centre and just a half hour drive away from the heart of Sheffield. We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and conscientious GP to complement our experienced team!
Main duties of the job
6 Sessions Tues, Thurs & Fri
14 Appointments per session
4 Partners
5 salaried GPs
SystmOne clinical system
Predictable working pattern, with some flexibility for holiday cover
MPS Group Scheme option
6 Weeks annual leave and 1 week study leave, pro rata
Red Whale access for CPD/ online training
Some on call duties
List size around 9,500 patients
Member of the Upper Don Network
Well maintained, modern premises with plenty of parking
Weekly GP meeting, monthly clinical team meeting, plus other periodic MDT meetings
Quarterly PPG meetings
Medical Students from Sheffield Medical School
Good links with Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and BDGH
Full support from Nurse teams, in-house FCP service, Social Prescribers, Mental Health Workers, Pharmacists, Reception & Administration teams

Job description Job responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities of the salaried GP. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
a. The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
b. The provision of services commensurate with the PMS contract
c. Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
d. Effective management of long-term conditions
e. Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks
f. On a rotational basis, undertake duty doctor on-call role
g. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance
h. Working collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
i. Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
j. Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice
k. Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or QOF
l. Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required
m. Contribute effective to the development and maintenance of the practice including; clinical governance, training, financial management and HR
n. Ensure compliance with the appraisal process
o. Prepare and complete the revalidation process
p. Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team
q. Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines
r. Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure
s. Review and adhere to practice protocols and policies at all times
t. Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, promoting a culture of continuous improvement at all times
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Qualified GP MRCGP Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT) Full GMC Registration National Performers List registration Eligibility to practice in the UK independently Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check Occupational Health Clearance Experience of working in a primary care environment Experience of continued professional development Experience of QOF and clinical audit Minimum of two years as a salaried GP Experience of medicines management Experience of ICB initiatives General understanding of the PMS contract Excellent communication skills (written and oral) Strong IT skills Clear, polite telephone manner Competent in the use of Office and Outlook SystmOne Effective time management (Planning & Organising) Ability to work as a team member and autonomously Excellent interpersonal skills Problem solving & analytical skills Ability to follow clinical policy and procedure Experience with audit and able to lead audit programmes Experience with clinical risk management Polite and confident Flexible and cooperative Motivated, forward thinker Problem solver with the ability to process information accurately and effectively, interpreting data as required High levels of integrity and loyalty Sensitive and empathetic in distressing situations Ability to work under pressure / in stressful situations Effectively able to communicate and understand the needs of the patient Commitment to ongoing professional development Effectively utilises resources Punctual and committed to supporting the team effort
Desirable
Outstanding level of clinical knowledge and skills commensurate with that of an experienced GP Project lead as required with CQC, CCG and QOF Flexibility to work outside of core office hours
