About this role

Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 1.0 WTE Band 4 Assistant Psychologist post based within the neuropsychology outpatient department at St Jamess University Hospital, working with people who present with a wide range of neurological and neurosurgical difficulties. The successful candidate will support qualified psychologists in their specialist neuropsychological assessment and therapeutic work. The post-holders time will be mainly clinically focused, but opportunities to support research and development of the service are also available.

Main duties of the job Clinical work will involve the administration and scoring of psychometric tests, conducting initial triage appointments to assess patients coming into the service, as well as delivering brief therapeutic interventions for patients with functional neurological disorders. There will also be the opportunity to support qualified clinical psychologists and CBT practitioners in the delivery of groups for patients with various neurological conditions.

Receiving regular individual supervision is integral to the post, and there are opportunities to join in regular departmental meetings and group supervision.

We would welcome applications from individuals with relevant qualifications who have an interest and enthusiasm to work in clinical neuropsychology. Previous experience of work in this area and of administering and scoring neuropsychological tests is desirable.

The successful applicant will join an established neuropsychology team at St James Hospital and will be linked with the wider department of Clinical & Health Psychology in Leeds.

The Department of Clinical and Health Psychology is a large team made up of Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, Counsellors and Therapists. In joining the Department you would have the opportunity to work alongside different professionals and gain experience of various physical health conditions. You will receive regular supervision from a qualified member of staff and there is a strong support network of other assistant psychologists. In addition, there will be opportunities to participate in department-wide Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and to contribute to other activities that support and enhance patient experience alongside your own personal and professional development.
