Job summary This is a 10 PA appointment for a Specialty Doctor in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery.
The post will deliver 10 PAs supporting the Trauma & Orthopaedic Team, with 1.5 PAs dedicated to SPA. The post holder will provide senior clinical expertise and experience in outpatient, ward assessment and operating theatre settings. There will be opportunities to contribute to research and teaching.
The post holder will work with a team of Surgeons to provide inpatient care for trauma patients across the 2 hospital sites within the city and help to ensure the smooth running of the Trauma & Orthopaedic departments.
Main duties of the job The service will include:
Fracture Clinics Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery Optional weekend hip lists Ward rounds and patient reviews - LGI and SJUH outreach Support to Junior Doctors Full in house educational and clinical supervision and mentoring package Access to participate in ongoing departmental research and audit presentations Opportunities to teach undergraduates Access to clinical governance meetings Elective clinics and operating lists - dependent on team allocation Registrar On call rota

Specialty Doctor in the department of Trauma & Orthopaedics Applicants should have established skills in Trauma & Orthopaedic surgery. Applicants should have a minimum of 4 years previous experience in Trauma & Orthopaedic surgery at ST3 level or above, current ATLS certification and must have full MRCS or equivalent.
This post will contribute to the Registrar on call rota.
Excellent communication and team working skills, a strong commitment to teaching and service development are essential.
