About this role

Job summary

The post holder will provideadministrative support to theResearch Teamsbased in the Dudley GroupNHS Foundation Trust, paying particular attention to the maintenance of up-to-date regulatory documentation of research studies in accordance with Good Clinical PracticePrinciples andStandard Operating Proceduresand study data input.

The postholder will be required to communicate effectively with other members of the research team,studyparticipants andtheirrelativesand to contribute to the implementation of a high standardand individualised participant care under the direction of the research nurse.

The post holder will be assessed on appointment on their level of competenceandas part of the Trust Training & Development Programme, undertake structured pathway of developmentto include basic skills and in-house development programme.

Main duties of the job

Utilise extended skills such as venepuncture and electrocardiogram (ECG).

To assist in the collection of specimens and undertake testing of urine, as per study protocol and report findings to the research nurse.

To assist in the cleaning of clinical equipment as directed by the nurse in charge, following Infection Control guidelines. Report broken or damaged equipment.

To assist with routine collection and recording of participant observations, eg ECG, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight, as required by the study protocol.

Maintain version control lists of all study documentation, communicating any changes to relevant personnel.

Input study data, including data queries as required using trails databases as well as National Institute for Health Research Clinical Research Network EDGE database

Maintain records of training logs, add up-to-date Curriculum Vitae's & Good Clinical Practice certificates to EDGE for all personnel involved in research studies.

Under direction of Research Nurse, collect research participant follow-up information from hospital systems and participant medical records.

To present a positive attitude and demonstrate commitment to the Trust.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

A level, AS level, or equivalent in Maths and English Language or Functional skills Level 3

Desirable

NVQ Level 3 in Health Care NVQ 3 in Business Administration or equivalent

Communication skills Essential

Ability to work as part of a team Proven oral and written communication skills

Knowledge and Training Essential

Willing to undertake training to meet the requirements of the role Demonstrates an understanding of confidentiality

Evidence of researching position applied for Working knowledge of NHS

Experience Essential

Previous experience of caring for people in a care worker role within hospital, community or residential nursing home setting
