Job summary As a member of the school health service, you will support the 5-19 team in the undertaking of the National Child Measuring Programme (NCMP), Hearing and Vision (H&V), Health Needs Assessment Questionnaires (HNA) and Single Point of Access administration duties (Duty SPA).

To be responsible, and accountable, for service delivery to clients/patients To be able to initiate referrals to other health professional specialist services and agencies. To provide patients and relatives with information and education thus ensuring they have meaningful choices that promote dignity, independence and quality of life. To complete all measuring and screening on children as part of the national child measurement programme and hearing and vision screening. To work according to the current child protection policies and procedures within NELFT and undertake three monthly safeguarding supervision as per trust policy. Modify intervention as needed depending on risk assessment, the situation and own skills and knowledge. Refer back to the School Nurse for support and advice ensuring that they are aware of any modifications made. Deal calmly and professionally with direct/indirect exposure to angry or distressed patients or highly distressing or emotional information (e.g. complaints and serious incidents) about services and staff performance. Work collaboratively with other services, which may include childrens services. Ensure robust communication and liaisons where relevant information, relating to a child or young person (0-19), is obtained during the course of their work. NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office at Goodmayes, Essex.
Probationary Period This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High Cost Area Supplement – Fringe (Basildon, Thurrock, Brentwood, Harlow and Dartford only) This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £1,346 to a maximum of £2,270 p.a. pro rata for part time)
