About this role

Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised Housekeeper to join our busy Critical Care Unit. This is a vital support role that contributes directly to the smooth and efficient running of the department, ensuring that patients, relatives and staff are supported within a safe, clean and well-organised environment

Main duties of the job

You will undertake a range of non clinical duties including stock management, ordering patient meals, coordinating supplies, liaising with support services and maintaining the day to day organisation of the unit. Working as part of the multidisciplinary team, you will play an important role in releasing valuable clinical time, allowing nursing and medical staff to focus on delivering high quality patient care. The role requires excellent communication skills, strong organisational abilities and a proactive approach to problem solving in a fast paced clinical environment.

Job description Job responsibilities

Work alongside stores team with maintaining stock levels of clinical and non clinical supplies, ensuring essential items are available and appropriately stored. Order patient meals and support patients and families with menu choices using the trusts electronic ordering system. Ensure the units environment remains clean, organised and welcoming, supporting high standards of patient care and infection prevention. Liaise with catering, domestic services, estates, procurement and other support departments to resolve operational issues promptly. Support the management of staff facilities and resources, including locker allocation and upkeep of communal areas Identify and report maintenance, environmental or stock issues an d take appropriate action to minimise disruption to the service.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Education Essential

Basic education

Desirable

GCSE maths and English grade C/4 or above or functional/key skills level 2 in maths and english. Basic food hygiene certificate Basic It Skills

Knowledge & Experience Essential

Understanding of the concept and application of confidentiality Previous experience of working with the public

Desirable

Previous experience of working in a critical care or healthcare setting. Previous experience as an NHS housekeeper Basic understanding of infection control principles
