Main duties of the job
The role would have you starting in the pelvic health and breast outpatient team but would be open to cover and/or change to other core therapy departments.Our core therapydepartments(egphysiotherapy, occupational therapy professions)coverall parts of the hospital - inpatients and outpatients - respiratory, medicine, neuro, emergency department, hand therapy, MSK to name a few.
Within thepelvic health and breast teamyour day would follow a predictable routine of responsibilitiesmixed withwelcoming/interacting with/helpingpeople(including newborn babies),andsolution finding.This could be getting the clinical spaces ready to accommodate patients(eg:clean, stocked, safe), getting the therapists ready for their clinic(eg: pulling notes, photocopying resources, getting equipment ready),supporting patients with queries, setting up for and running classes,taking your own patients on the phone or face to face(providing routine pre-operative information,supporting patients with clinician-prescribed exercises),gathering key patient information from the notes to support clinicians priorto their session,being available tochaperonefor assessments,getting patients fitted for equipment,reviewing and replenishing stock,checking diaries and liaising with our admin team to fill any gaps that appear,helping with gathering and analysing information to demonstrate team performanceto senior leadership...

Job description Job responsibilities
Your passion for delivering excellent patient care will be undeniable and you will feel fulfilled in your work knowing you are making a difference to patients.
Your effective communication and interpersonal skills will mean you can easily build rapport with patients and staff alike. You will be able to effectively gather patient pre-admission history and provide empathy and support during what may bea very challengingtime in their life. You will also pride yourself on your organisational skills, supporting with the administrative duties of the team to make sure the service runs smoothly and efficiently.
The close integration between our Physiotherapists allows for a dynamic and supportive working environment and your colleagues will be on hand to support you.
The role of a Therapy Assistant will offer you lots of variety, working both in a team and autonomously, with patients from alldifferent backgrounds.
A proportionof the job involves delivering classes with a therapist and your role within this will be essential. You will work closely with patients who are pregnant and postnatal (sometimes theirnewbornbabies) in an outpatient setting, and thisnecessitatesa sensitive,caringand compassionate approach.
There are also administrative duties to the role, therefore basic skills within information technology are desirable as well as excellent organisational skills.

All staff are supported with regular supervision from a senior team member.

Qualifications & Education Essential
GCSE Maths & English grade C or above / Grade 4 - 9 OR Functional/Key skills level 2 numeracy and Functional/Key Skills level 2 literacy Level 3 qualification or willingness to work towards on employment

NVQ level 3 or equivalent in relevant area Clinical skills/care certificate
Knowledge & Experience Essential
Understanding of the role of a band 3 senior therapy assistant Basic knowledge of the role of physiotherapy in outpatients Basic knowledge of the role of physiotherapy in inpatients Understanding of concept and application of confidentiality Understanding of health and safety issues within healthcare Experience of working effectively within a team Experience of working with the public Experience of participating in exercise classes
Desirable
Previous experience of working in health care or related setting Experience of working within an NHS Occupational therapy or physiotherapy department Basic knowledge of the role of physiotherapy in pelvic health and breast (previously known as women's health) Basic knowledge of pregnancy Basic knowledge of breast cancer Basic knowledge of pelvic floor muscles and exercises Experience of running exercise classes, teaching and/or presenting in front of multiple people
