Job summary Are you an enthusiastic, motivated Dietitian with a keen interest in Neonatal Dietetics? Do you have a passion for supporting infants and their families and carers, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team? We are looking for experienced Dietitians to join our current Neonatal Dietitians and have up to 2.5WTE Band 7 funding, taking the service to 4.0WTE. You will be joining an established Neonatology Team with strong MDT working and support. You will work with two Band 7 Neonatal Dietitians with Dietetic Assistant and Dietetic Associate Practitioner support. We collaborate with the rest of the Dietetic Team where needed.
Main duties of the job Dietitians working in neonatal care require a specific level of neonatal knowledge and skills to provide a safe, effective and high quality neonatal dietetic service. Dietitians with dedicated neonatal expertise are essential to support optimal growth and development while minimising clinical and nutritional risks.
We are a dedicated and cohesive neonatal AHP team delivering highquality, evidencebased developmental care for babies and their families. Recent investment offers an exciting opportunity to expand our workforce and strengthen AHP provision within neonatal services across St James's University Hospital and Leeds General Infirmary. As we progress through a period of transformation, we are enhancing developmental pathways, improving outcomes and embedding collaborative, familycentred practice. This integrated approach supports safer nutritional management and ensures that complex feeding plans are implemented and monitored effectively. This will develop a dedicated team of neonatal dietetic professionals who can provide high quality, focussed and dedicated neonatal care giving the babies and their families the best support and nutritional plans.

As one of the largest Neonatal Services in the UK (up to 64 cots), you will work with other dietitians across 2 hospital sites (LGI and St James’s) and cover areas including ICU, Surgical Newborns, HDU, Special Care, Transitional Care. Outpatient follow up is provided for babies under Neonatologist Care up to 2 years of age working alongside our Neonatal Outreach Nurses.
Why you should join our Team The Leeds Children’s hospital is one of the largest children’s hospitals in the UK. We offer a wide range of secondary, tertiary and supra-regional services. Over 80% of the services we deliver are specialist including diabetes, cancer treatment, transplantation and congenital heart surgery. Other specialities also include children’s medicine and surgery, gastroenterology, cystic fibrosis, respiratory medicine, hepatobiliary services, renal medicine, neurosciences, children’s critical care, neonatal services, oncology and haematology, endocrinology, rheumatology, cardiac services, allergy, immunology and infectious diseases. We provide services for the children of Leeds and across the Yorkshire and Humber Region and in some cases further afield.
Our Children’s Dietetic Team is a large, friendly and supportive department of 36 staff, including Children’s Dietitians, Dietetic Assistants and Dietetic Associate Practitioners, Special Feed Unit Technicians and Admin staff. We are part of the wider Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Nutrition and Dietetic Service and have close links with adults.
We cover for colleagues within the multi-specialty Children’s dietetic team at times of leave and will support you with appropriate training opportunities to facilitate this.

You will be fully involved in student training, contributing to the provision of training programmes for A, B and C placement learners. You will have access to IT and library facilities.

What you will bring to the role Provide advanced, highly specialised dietetic care to infants and their families and carers at a local and regional level. This will include our inpatient and outpatient services and our programme of education. Provide and lead aspects of clinical training for dietetic learners and other staff. Support the Children’s Clinical Dietetic Manager with the day-to-day running of the team, with leadership and line management roles. Lead and co-ordinate dietetic research, audit and guidelines within Neonatology Team alongside the MDT.
