Requirements: We require 3+ years of hands-on troubleshooting and configuration experience supporting large multinational corporate networks across a diverse range of technologies and vendors.We require 3+ years working directly in Cisco IOS and the Meraki dashboard.We require 3+ years troubleshooting and configuring WLAN technologies; Cisco and Meraki experience is preferred.Experience with Cisco NSO, SAE, UCS, ISE, and DUO is preferred.Experience with VMware is required.We require demonstrable ability to use IOS and the Meraki dashboard for network troubleshooting and configuration.We require a CCNA or comparable certification, or demonstrable equivalent work experience and skill.We require comfort collecting packet captures.We require a strong understanding of network protocols and functions including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, NAT, DNS, DHCP, SDWAN, IPAM, SDN, ACL, Spanning Tree, VLAN, the OSI model, NetFlow, and TACACs.We require the ability to explain complex technical topics in laymans terms under time pressure.We require the ability to use NMS tools such as Nagios, SevOne, LiveNX, SolarWinds, NetScout, ServiceNow, and the Meraki Dashboard to diagnose and triage issues or requests.Familiarity with the use and limitations of syslogs, SNMP traps, device polling, NetFlow, and other management functions is required.We require an understanding of ITIL principles, including event, incident, problem, and change management.We require strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.Experience participating in network implementation and refresh projects is required.We require experience working with customers remotely and over the phone to assist with network troubleshooting. Responsibilities: We provide triage, analysis, and resolution of network incidents.We manage incidents end to end, bringing in additional skilled resources as required.We engage with or defer to other technical teams as needed to resolve incidents.We act as major incident manager when incident impact warrants it.We provide timely updates to stakeholders or the incident manager during incidents.We troubleshoot and configure networking equipment, including Cisco, Meraki, and other supported platforms.We participate in the global on-call rotation, including some weekend coverage.We use network management systems to diagnose issues, identify likely root causes, and assess impact.We collect packet captures and perform initial analysis where possible.We work with local contacts and service providers to resolve site connectivity, hardware, and service issues, and we hold providers accountable to SLAs.We proactively identify and improve situations where things could be better.We continuously evaluate network capacity and performance and make recommendations for design changes as appropriate.We help maintain CMDB information and update our internal knowledge base.We fulfil DNS and DHCP requests, including A or CNAME record requests, new DHCP scope requests, and MX record updates.We implement changes as defined and requested by the design and planning team. We are hiring a Network Engineer for a 12-month initial contract based in Bracknell with a hybrid working arrangement. This is an inside IR35 role and requires use of an umbrella company. The rate is £58 per hour. You will join us to support a large, multinational network environment and work across incident management, troubleshooting, implementation, and operational improvements within a collaborative technical team.
