Pharmacy Technician

Position Description: Provides advanced technical, logistical, training, regulatory and compliance oversight, as well as fiscal oversight as it relates to pharmaceutical inventory to support the School of Veterinary Medicine. Major/Essential Functions: • Receives, interprets, enters into computer, and prepares prescription orders for attending veterinarians. • Maintains sufficient drug and supply inventory for the pharmacy. • Works with the inventory coordinator to place orders to support the School of Veterinary Medicine Clinical Programs. • Maintains accurate controlled substance inventory records. • Helps to develop and supports pharmacy quality assurance program within the School of Veterinary Medicine. • Triage department information inquiries. Maintains confidential records and files. • Performs other duties of a certified technician • Other duties as assigned by Manager of Veterinary Clinical Education

Required Qualifications: A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent. At least three years of experience as a pharmacy technician. Required by the State of Texas to be a Certified Pharmacy Technician through the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam within 12 months after hire.

Pay Statement: Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Credential as a Licensed, Registered, or Certified Veterinary Technician. Current Certified Pharmacy Technician. Experience in a veterinary teaching hospital, specialty referral hospital, or veterinary pharmacy.
