Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate individual to join Women's Health Psychological Services, specifically to work on the Neonatal Unit (NNU). The postholder will provide expert psychological assessment/consultation to parents whose babies have been admitted or recently discharged from the NNU. This is primarily an inpatient role, with some outpatient clinics. As a senior clinician, the post-holder will also be expected to offer supervision and line management to junior staff and trainees on placement at the hospital.The post-holder is expected to demonstrate training and experience relating to working in the NHS (or equivalent) and with medical populations. Main duties of the job
o To provide a specialist psychological service to the Neonatal Service - parents of babies admitted to the NNU or recently discharged and the nursing/medical team. o To normally achieve a minimum of 65% time in clinical activitieso To contribute to the research/audit activities of the WHPS/NNU serviceo To provide supervision of junior practitioners and trainees on placemento To provide line management to junior psychological practitioners and oversee the performance and compliance of the services that they provide.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Qualifications Essential
Honours degree in psychology and a Doctorate in clinical/counselling psychology, or masters level psychotherapy training Registered Practitioner Psychologist by the HCPC to use the protected title practitioner psychologist (clinical/counselling) or UKCP registration High-level knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two specialised psychological therapies (e.g. approaches for trauma, grief and complex health difficulties)
Desirable
Training in clinical supervision of other practitioner psychologists.
Experience Essential
Substantial experience of working as a qualified psychological practitioner (for a minimum of 3 years full-time equivalent). Experience of working in a women's health setting in an acute Trust e.g. in obstetrics or gynaecology Experience working in an inpatient setting Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment with medical populations across a range of care settings. Experience of offering psychological preparation for decision making about complex medical or surgical treatments taking into account factors affecting decision making, current health status, emotional well-being. Experience of offering psychological consultation/short term therapy for individuals, couples and in groups Experience of working in a multi-professional team involving physicians, surgeons, nurses, and allied health professionals and giving psychological formulations and as part of multidisciplinary assessments and care planning. Ability to work with interpreters and a range of different cultural contexts. Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups. Evidence of continuing professional development as required by the British Psychological Society, HCPC, BACP or UKCP.
