About this role

Job summary The Service Delivery Manager is a key managerial position in the Care Group. The post holder is responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of one or two services, working closely with the Clinical Leads and Matrons and supporting the General Manager and Head of Nursing.

The post holder will ensure that effective and efficient structures are in place to ensure that all standards of patient care are met and associated risk and governance matters are managed.

The post holder will support the Service Manager / General Manager in developing efficient and effective patient centred services, meeting key financial and operational performance targets, and putting in place effective processes for delivering national/ local targets, reviewing the efficiency and effectiveness of services in terms of cost effectiveness and financial flows.

Main duties of the job Leadership Provide clear leadership to services, ensuring that all staff are appropriately managed and developed and that they are efficient, effective, engaged and motivated. Model Trust values, set the tone for respectful team culture, and foster wellbeing, psychological safety, and inclusion in daily practice. Communicate clearly and confidently with multi-professional teams; support a culture of open feedback, active listening, and shared understanding. Provide visible, supportive leadership; support team development, encourage ownership, and address performance issues fairly and constructively. Celebrate successes and encourage cross-team learning; apply retention strategies and support inclusive talent development within services. Engage and support staff throughout service transformation; manage resistance and communicate change in a way that reduces disruption and builds trust. Contribute to translating Trust objectives into service-level priorities, support colleagues in planning and tracking improvement against goals. Strengthen cross-boundary collaboration with departments, primary care, and local partners to improve patient flow and pathway integration. Support the establishment of a clear vision for these specific work areas with senior colleagues to create a working environment that empowers staff to achieve optimal performance.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the Outpatient & Administration Service Manager in the day-to-day operational leadership of the Outpatient Department, it’s operational processes and systems, as well as any other improvement and development projects as part of general modernisation of the service.

The postholder will have line management responsibility for administration staff including Outpatient Appointment Team Leads, Outpatient appointment booking staff, and support the Service manager with line management of the OAD Data quality lead, and systems/information lead

Services that are split across the departments as listed below.

Outpatient Appointments Department Fast track Reception Services This role will involve traveling to PAHT sites at least once a month

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Analytical & judgemental Skills, Communication & Relationship Skills, Physical Skills Effective verbal, written & interpersonal skills Understanding of how to manage demand and capacity in the health service. Demonstrates achievements in managing change and quality improvements

Experience Essential

Educated to a masters degree level or equivalent experience

Desirable

Recognised post-graduate management qualification or equivalent experience
