The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) is seeking an exceptional senior clinical leader to join our Board as an Associate Non-Executive Director.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the strategic leadership, governance and future direction of a major NHS organisation serving communities across West Essex and East Hertfordshire.
We are particularly interested in individuals with significant experience in nursing, maternity services or an allied health profession, who can bring independent thinking, constructive challenge and sound judgement to Board discussions.
Main duties of the job
As an Associate Non-Executive Director, you will:
Provide independent scrutiny, support and challenge to the Trust BoardContribute to strategic decision-making and organisational oversightChampion quality, patient safety and clinical effectivenessSupport the development of an inclusive, compassionate and high-performing cultureHelp shape services through partnership working across the wider health and care systemEnsure the interests of patients, staff and local communities remain at the heart of decision-making

You will have:
Senior or Board-level leadership experience A substantial clinical background in nursing, maternity or an allied health profession Experience of influencing significant organisational decisions Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills The confidence to challenge constructively and support effectively A commitment to equality, inclusion and improving outcomes for patients
NHS experience is desirable but not essential.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Professional qualification and current or previous registration in Nursing, Midwifery or an Allied Health Profession.
Desirable
Non-Executive Director, Board or corporate governance training.
Experience Essential
Significant senior clinical leadership experience within nursing, maternity services or an allied health profession. Board-level or equivalent experience in a complex organisation, contributing to strategic decision-making.
Desirable
Previous Non-Executive Director, Associate Non-Executive Director or Board Committee experience.
