We're building a brand new Oral Health service in Tower Hamlets and are looking for passionate Dental Therapists to join us. Working alongside school nurses, public health colleagues and a wider multidisciplinary team, you'll play a key role in shaping a new service from the very beginning. Main duties of the job

For this role, essentially you'll need:
A BSc or Diploma in Dental Therapy (or equivalent).
Current General Dental Council (GDC) registration.
A Certificate in Fluoride Varnish Application.
Experience delivering clinical dental therapy services and preventative dental care.
Experience working with children and families.
Knowledge of public health approaches to improving children's oral health.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage children, young people and families.
The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
A commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and delivering high quality, compassionate care.
Experience delivering supervised toothbrushing programmes, working with children who have additional needs or vulnerabilities, delivering fluoride varnish programmes, or qualifications in oral health education or public health would be advantageous but aren't essential.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
BSc/Diploma in Dental Therapy or equivalent. Current General Dental Council (GDC) registration. Certificate in Fluoride Varnish Application.
Desirable
Additional qualification in Oral Health Education or Public Health.
Experience Essential
Experience delivering clinical dental therapy services. Experience delivering health promotion and preventative dental care. Experience working with children and families. Experience maintaining electronic patient records.
Desirable
Experience supporting supervised toothbrushing programmes. Experience working with children with additional needs or vulnerabilities. Experience delivering teaching, training or presentations. Experience delivering fluoride varnish programmes for children and young people.
Additional Criteria Essential
Knowledge of public health approaches to improving children's oral health. Knowledge of General Dental Council Scope of Practice. Knowledge of clinical record keeping standards and infection prevention and control. Understanding of safeguarding procedures for children and young people. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong clinical assessment and treatment skills. Ability to engage effectively with children, young people and families. Presentation and group facilitation skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Ability to prioritise workload and manage competing demands. Excellent team working and relationship building skills. Organised, flexible and able to adapt to changing service needs. IT literate, including experience using electronic clinical record systems. Ability to travel efficiently throughout the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. Commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding.
