As a Supervising Practitioner, you`ll be part of our vibrant Mental Health Support Team working in schools to deliver evidence-based interventions, promote whole school approaches to mental wellbeing, and ensure that EMHPs and trainees feel supported, skilled and safe intheir practice.
You`ll hold a small caseload and work directly with young people with mild to moderate needs, while also offering clinical supervision, reflective spaces and day-to-day guidance to your team. You`ll be ago-to clinical lead, helping embed good practice, spot risks early and build the kind of culture where practitioners can thrive.
You`ll work hand-in-hand with schools, Team Leaders and the wider Compass team to drive quality, consistency and innovation. Whether you`re shaping group interventions, training staff or liaising with senior mental health leads, your influence will be felt far beyond your own caseload.

Main duties of the job
You're passionate about improving the mental health of children and young people and enjoy supporting others to grow and succeed. You lead with integrity, build trusted relationships and remain calm when faced with challenges.
You'll bring:
Qualified Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) with post qualification experience, or a recognised core professional qualification with relevant therapeutic experience (CWP, Mental Health Nurse, etc) Experience of clinical supervision, mentoring or supporting colleagues Knowledge of evidence based interventions, CBT informed practice, safeguarding and risk management Excellent communication and relationship building skills, working confidently with children, young people, families, schools and partner agencies The ability to manage competing priorities, make sound decisions and work collaboratively A solution focused approach, professional integrity and commitment to continuous learning A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle Management or supervision training, postgraduate therapeutic qualifications or experience working in a skill mixed team would be welcomed, but they're not essential.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Qualified Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) with post qualification experience. Post Graduate Certificate in Supervision (EMHP Supervisor Course), or post qualification experience of working therapeutically with children and young people and willingness to undertake a Post Graduate Certificate in Supervision. Or a recognised core professional and/or clinical qualification (such as CWP, Mental Health Nursing, Learning Disability Nursing or Occupational Therapy) with a commitment to maintaining professional registration where applicable.
Desirable
Evidence of continued professional development. Management or supervision training. Therapeutic postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience, ideally in low intensity CBT. Post Graduate qualification in a relevant discipline. Mentorship qualification.
Experience Essential
Two years' post qualification experience of working therapeutically with children and young people. Experience of line management and/or delivering clinical supervision. Experience of organising team duties. Experience of engaging effectively with children, young people and families.
Desirable
Experience of leadership within Children and Young People clinical services. Experience of providing mentorship. Experience of inducting staff. Experience of working within a skill mixed team.
Additional Criteria Essential
Knowledge of risk assessment, risk management and safeguarding. Knowledge of CBT informed supervision, ideally within education settings. Knowledge of community and educational environments. Knowledge of evidence based interventions for children and young people. Knowledge of supervision frameworks and professional practice standards. Knowledge of multi agency and multidisciplinary working. Knowledge of evidence, data collection and achieving performance targets. Knowledge of analysing and evaluating data to support service delivery. Leadership skills with the ability to delegate and supervise staff. Ability to recognise and escalate risk appropriately. Strong planning, workload management and organisational skills. Ability to work under pressure and manage changing priorities. Good IT skills. Excellent communication and relationship building skills. Ability to influence others through innovative practice. Positive, flexible, adaptable and solution focused approach. High level of personal integrity. Ability to work all year round. Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (reasonable adjustments considered where applicable).
