Job summary

Are you a compassionate and proactive Registered Nurse looking for a role where you can make a real difference to patients before, during and after their procedure? Horder Healthcare is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Day Services Unit and Pre-Assessment team at The Horder Centre in Crowborough.

Main duties of the job

What you'll be doing:

Deliver safe, effective and personalised nursing care in line with national and organisational standards. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care within the Day Services Unit and Pre-Assessment setting. Carry out pre-admission screening, following Horder Healthcare policies and protocols. Support patients through pre-operative and post-operative care, providing clear advice and reassurance to patients and their relatives. Work collaboratively with colleagues across the multidisciplinary team to support positive patient outcomes and smooth patient flow. Maintain accurate documentation, escalate concerns appropriately and uphold excellent infection prevention and control standards. Contribute to audits, service improvement and the continued development of high-quality clinical practice. Support junior colleagues, new starters and learners by sharing knowledge and promoting a positive learning environment.

Clinical

To deliver high quality clinical care by assessment of patient need, implementation of care and evaluation of progress/outcome, in line with national and corporate standards.To work co-operatively with colleagues and other member of the multidisciplinary team in order to ensure positive patient care.To be actively involved in nursing research projects in support of clinical practice, and participate in the conceptual development of clinical practice.To assist in the formulation of procedures and standards, and to participate in clinical and organisational audits for the maintenance and development of a quality service.To ensure that advice and information given to patients and/or relatives is appropriate and meets their needs.To carry out pre-admission screening adhering to THC policies and protocolsTo take a lead role in an emergency where appropriate until further help arrives.To ensure all strategies policies and protocols relating to infection control are implemented and monitored and that appropriate and timely action is taken in response to ensuring the prevention and control of infection

Education

To accept responsibility for determining your own professional needs, and setting goals and objectives through relevant processes to meet these needs, monitoring progress at regular intervals.To supervise and guide the work of junior colleagues, providing a suitable learning environment.To undertake the role of mentor/buddy where requested and to facilitate the orientation and development of new staff. To participate in in-house training sessions and attend meetings and discussions to inform practice, when required.To take every opportunity to maintain and improve knowledge and professional competence, in line with the NMC Scope of Professional Practice/ Health Professional Council./Chartered Society of Physiotherapists/ Royal College of Nursing ( as applicable)

Person Specification

About You Essential

Registered Nurse with relevant professional registration. A nursing degree. Experience working as a Registered Nurse. Evidence of ongoing professional development throughout your career. A caring, proactive and flexible approach to supporting patients and colleagues.

Desirable

Clinical experience in orthopaedics, day surgery or pre-assessment. A mentorship qualification or experience supporting learners and junior colleagues.
