Job summary
This is a hands-on, varied role within our Estates team, combining electrical expertise with wider estates maintenance across building fabric, plant, plumbing, heating, ventilation and general building services. You will play a key part in maintaining high-quality clinical and non-clinical environments across our sites, supporting planned maintenance, reactive repairs, contractor coordination and day-to-day estates requests.

Job description Job responsibilities
Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across the estate, including building fabric, fixtures, fittings, plant, plumbing, heating, ventilation, basic mechanical systems and electrical installations.Use electrical qualifications and experience to inspect, test, fault-find and complete minor electrical works within competence, ensuring compliance with current regulations and organisational procedures.Identify faults, hazards, defects and areas of non-compliance, taking prompt action to make safe, escalate or arrange remedial works as appropriate.Review, prioritise and coordinate Estates helpdesk requests, ensuring works are completed in a timely, safe and professional mannerSupport statutory, mandatory and best-practice maintenance programmes, including inspection schedules, testing regimes, records, remedial actions and audit readiness.Liaise with and manage external contractors on site, including coordinating access, reviewing risk assessments and method statements, monitoring quality of work and ensuring site rules are followed.Assist with reviewing service arrangements, contractor performance and service level agreements to support value for money and effective Estates service delivery.Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, asset information and compliance documentation, escalating trends or recurring issues to the Head of Estates.Support minor works, upgrades, refurbishments and equipment replacement projects by providing technical input, practical support and coordination with contractors and internal stakeholders.Monitor the condition of estate assets and proactively identify future maintenance requirements, risks and opportunities for improvement. Respond appropriately to Estates emergencies, breakdowns and service interruptions, supporting business continuity and minimising disruption to services.Work safely at all times, adhering to health and safety, infection prevention and control, permit-to-work, isolation and performance standards.
Person Specification
About you Essential
You will hold a recognised electrical qualification, ideally including current IET Wiring Regulations 18th Edition or equivalent. You will have experience in estates, facilities maintenance or building services, with the flexibility to work across both electrical and general maintenance tasks. You will be confident diagnosing faults, prioritising competing demands and taking a practical, safety-first approach. You will understand safe systems of work, risk assessments, method statements, permit-to-work arrangements and isolation procedures. You will communicate clearly with colleagues, contractors and managers, and take pride in delivering a reliable, professional service.
Desirable
Experience in healthcare, clinical, regulated or multi-site environments would be beneficial but is not essential.
