Job summary

The Business Support Manager plays a key role in ensuring the effective, efficient, and operation of the Planned Care and Community Outpatients service line. Working closely with the Operational Lead, the post holder is responsible for overseeing non-clinical functions including administration, finance support, estates support, governance, and operational performance.

The role focuses on providing business support to enable high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and sustainable service development. The Business Support Manager supports teams, manages systems and processes, supports service improvement initiatives, and contributes to financial and strategic planning.

This role requires strong organisational, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with a good understanding of secondary care operations, NHS frameworks, and data-driven performance management.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the delivery of service objectives for the Planned Care and Community Outpatient service line. They will provide focus and support to the Operational Lead on business objectives - performance, governance, workforce, service improvement, information management, business continuity, communications, finance and risk as well as being responsible for the strategic development, implementation and management of administrative policies and procedures, whilst working autonomously and using own initiative.

The Business Support Manager will seek improvement, where opportunities exist, within services and across the service line, providing co-ordination of activities to support change. The successful candidate will act as line manager for the administrative staff within the service line, including the supervision, recruitment, appraisals, performance issues and initial stages of grievance and disciplinary procedures.
